  • Wild rice is rich in Thiamin, Lysine, Riboflavin, Vitamin B, and Iron. 
  • Wild Rice is naturally gluten free and grain free, as wild rice is not technically a rice, but a semi-aquatic grass native to North America.

Cooking California Wild Rice
  • Before consuming California Wild Rice, it's important to note that undercooked wild rice will have a hard texture, making it difficult to chew. ​
  • To prep the wild rice before cooking, it is beneficial to soak the wild rice for several hours before cooking. 
  • Wild rice that is completely cooked will have a cream colored interior with a nutty flavor and chewy texture.
  • The cooking time of wild rice will depend on the desired texture.​
  • Wild rice requires more cooking time than white or brown rice. 
  • When completely cooked, wild rice can expand up to three to four times its original size. 
    • One pound of cooked wild rice will generate up to 35 servings of wild rice. 
California Wild Rice as an Everyday Dish
  • ​California Wild Rice mixes great with other grains like white or brown rice, or pilaf and quinoa. ​It is ideal for stuffing, salads, and soups, or for adding color and texture to breads and desserts.
